The Queens visit to the North East
| On the 5th of May 2002 the queen passed through the town as part of her Golden Jubilee tour. The visit started in Sunderland with the opening of the new Winter Gardens in Mobray park and the opening of the Sunderland Metro extension. She boarded a specially painted gold train that celebrates her jubilee, she then traveled four stations down the line and alighted from the train at Felgate station. |
